Vision

Since much of Jesus's original ministry and teaching was accomplished Monday through Saturday during the daily hustle and bustle of marketplace activity, the goal of the Marketplace Bible Study is to offer men an opportunity to take a break from their busy schedules and focus on needed and significant spiritual truth. Functioning as an outreach in the community, it is our hope that men would feel comfortable inviting their friends and co-workers to our study. The study is designed to offer deep biblical exegesis and extremely accessible application that are meaningful for both long-time Christians and for those who are new to Bible study.

Format

The goal of Marketplace Bible Study is to provide men with the opportunity to study and interact with God's word. For that reason, we begin our Study with 45 minutes of teaching and then set aside 15 minutes for live Q and A. Marketplace is designed so that you have the opportunity to think critically about and respond to the truth that is presented in Scripture.

History

For years, Dave Cavan dreamed of making a positive impact on the Valley business community-- a community he had been an integral part of for more than 25 years. As a result, Marketplace Bible Study was born in the fall of 2008. Cavan recruited Jamie Rasmussen, Senior Pastor of Scottsdale Bible Church, as the study's first speaker and the group quickly grew from 15 to more than 100 each week. In an effort to reach a larger demographic within the Valley business sector, Marketplace added a secondary teacher in 2012-- Lucas Cooper. Now Marketplace offers two weekly study times, a morning option and a lunch option, and welcomes men from all over the Valley and all over the "spiritual map". Our dream is to build on the vision to reach the Phoenix and Scottsdale business sector by creating an environment where men can investigate and experience God's truth.
